Information about Perception
Perception is the mental process of selecting, organizing and interpreting information gained through the senses. It is the subject of study in cognitive science. Perception defines reality. As we move about in the world, we create a model of how the world works. By learning new information, our perception of the world changes and in a sense also our reality. Perception can also be tricked: an ambiguous image has multiple interpretations on the perception level. The ambiguity confuses the brain. A quantitative realtionship between physical stimuli and perceprion is the Weber-Fechner Law.
